Liverpool maintained their perfect start under new manager Arne Slot, delivering a comprehensive and humiliating 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. The result further intensifies the scrutiny on Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils’ manager who narrowly avoided the axe over the summer.

The visitors were on a different level from the outset, dominating possession and creating countless chances. Trent Alexander-Arnold had an early goal disallowed for offside, but Liverpool didn’t have to wait long for the breakthrough. Luis Diaz capitalized on a defensive error from Casemiro, heading home Mohamed Salah’s cross to give Liverpool a deserved lead.

Just seven minutes later, Diaz struck again. Another Casemiro blunder allowed Salah to find Diaz in the box, and the Colombian made no mistake with a powerful finish. United were shell-shocked, and it was clear that they were outclassed on the day.

The second half was more of the same. Salah added his name to the scoresheet, easily beating Andre Onana from Dominik Szoboszlai’s pass. United had a few chances, but they were unable to make a dent in Liverpool’s defense.

The defeat is a major setback for ten Hag, who has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks. While the club’s FA Cup win last season may have saved his job, his team’s performances this season have left much to be desired.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are flying high under Slot. The Dutchman has seamlessly replaced Jurgen Klopp, and his team is playing some of the most attractive football in the league.
