Harambee Stars U20 and Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Wilson Stanley has signed with Swedish club AIK. The 18-year-old was officially announced as a new addition to the Swedish team on the night of Thursday, August 22, and will be with AIK on a three-year contract, which will keep him at the club until December 31, 2027.
“I am very happy to be part of the AIK family and look forward to fulfilling my dream of becoming a Swedish champion with the club,” Stanley said.
Earlier this year, Stanley had a trial with AIK before returning to Sharks for the remainder of the season. He also earned a spot on the national U23 squad that represented Kenya at the COSAFA Championship in South Africa.
Stanley is not the first Kenyan to play for AIK. Left back Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma and striker Henry Meja have previously been with the club. Meja is still part of the team but is currently on loan at AFC Eskilstuna.
AIK’s sports manager, Thomas Berntsen, is confident that with patience and hard work, Stanley will develop into a top player
